I haven't even begun work on the over-world sprites at all, and it took me a year just to get this far. Similarly, I have no ETA to when this would happen. (AKA, to make the sprites look better while retaining the Vanilla look and art-style of the game) In future updates to the hack I would also like to revamp the over-world sprites similarly to how I've done the battle sprites. A few battle theme changes to add more variety to battles and better fit the enemy you're fighting Please report any bugs you may notice or encounter in the hack while playing.ĮarthBound: Enhanced, Version 1.1 () PK for offensive attacks) I can be contacted on (Either by PM or a reply to the hack's thread) or Discord at Howisthisaname#7965 if need be.

This is a romhack for EarthBound made by Howisthisaname. If anyone reading this readme understands how to properly edit EarthBound's tileset sprites, please contact me on Discord. Being stashed away in the download store of the Wii U a console thats reached barely a fraction of its predecessors audience isnt exactly a second lease of life for Earthbound, but with sales figures slowly on the uptake thanks to Mario Kart, its finally possible for Europeans to see what all of the fuss is about.NOTICE: I would like to extent this romhack's changes into the area of tile editing.

Earthbound stood out a mile from its contemporaries, but for all of the wrong reasons, and sold poorly. In retrospect, though, its hard to blame Nintendo for its wariness someone had made the questionable decision to over-exaggerate the cruder aspects of the games humour as part of Earthbounds marketing campaign, leaving reviewers and gamers alone baffled by NES-quality visuals and vomit gags in an RPG landscape that had just seen the release of beautiful, sophisticated Chrono Trigger.

The novelty, that is, of being able to legitimately sample a title that Americans were able to physically unwrap way back in 1995 thats a localisation delay of eighteen years, which is a leisurely amble even by Nintendos standards. Its been slightly over a year now since Earthbound finally found its way to European shores, albeit as a download for the Wii Us Virtual Console, and thats enough time for the novelty to have worn away.
